FAQS

Can I use Dyness LiFePO4 Lithium batteries as starting batteries?

No. Dyness LiFePO4 lithium batteries are not intended to be used as starting batteries but energy storage, please do not use them to start any devices.

If you need the marine starting batteries, visitDyness 12V 100Ah.

How many amp hours does a group 31 battery have?

Dyness 12V 100Ah lithium battery is a powerful replacement for group 31 batteries due to its larger capacity than traditional AGM or Lead Acid group 31 batteries. It has a 100Ah capacity and 1280Wh energy, leaving you peace of mind to handle various situations.

How much does a group 31 battery weigh?

Being the utmost replacement for the group 31 batteries, Dyness 12V 100Ah deep cycle LiFePO4 battery, weighing 21.3 lbs, is 1/5 the weight of a 12V 200Ah lead acid battery (about 130lbs) but equivalent in energy.

How to charge Dyness 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 lithium battery?

There are 3 ways to charge.

1. Using Solar Panels + Solar Charge Controller

The battery can be fully charged in one day (with effective sunshine 4.5 hrs/day) by 400W solar panels. It may take more than one day to fully charge the battery by ≥400W solar panels since the duration and intensity of light would be a great factor for their charging efficiency.

Besides solar panels, there are 2 more ways to charge.

2. Generator/Alternator

If the alternator or generator supports DC output, a DC-to-DC charger is needed to connect the battery to the generator; if your alternator or generator supports AC output, please add a suitable battery charger to connect the battery and the generator according to our recommendations. The Recommended Charging Voltage: 14.2V - 14.6V. The Recommended Charging Current: ① 20A (0.2C): the battery will be fully charged in around 5 hrs to 100% capacity; ② 50A (0.5C): the battery will be fully charged in around 2 hrs to around 97% capacity.

3. LiFePO4 Smart Chargers

To charge 12V battery, it is recommended to use the charger designed for LiFePO4 batteries.

You can charge the Dyness 12V 100Ah lithium battery with a 12V 10Ah or 12V 20Ah charger, and a full charge will take 10 hours and 5 hours respectively.

Can I charge Dyness LiFePO4 lithium batteries in cold weather (under freezing temperatures)?

The Dyness 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries can be safely charged between 0°C to 50°C (32°F to 122°F). But when charging under the freezing point, the battery cells may be damaged.

How do I store Dyness LiFePO4 lithium batteries?

For optimal longevity, store your Dyness LiFePO4 batteries under the following conditions:

Storage Recommendations
State of Charge (SOC): Store batteries at a 50% state of charge. Avoid storing them fully charged or completely discharged.
Regular Recharging: If storing for an extended period, recharge the batteries to 50% at least every three months to prevent deep discharge and maintain cell balance.
Temperature: The ideal storage temperature is between 10℃ and 35℃ (50℉ and 95℉).
Humidity: Maintain a relative humidity of 45% to 75%.
Protective Casing: It is highly recommended to store the batteries in a dedicated battery box to protect them from physical damage, dust, and moisture.
Best Practices for Long-Term Storage
For storage exceeding three months, adhering to these guidelines will significantly preserve your battery's health and performance:

Disconnect Completely: Ensure the batteries are disconnected from all loads and charging sources. This prevents slow parasitic drains that can lead to over-discharge.
Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Storing batteries outside the recommended temperature range can accelerate degradation. In particular, high heat can permanently damage the battery's capacity.
Cycle Before Use: After a long storage period, it's good practice to cycle the battery (one full charge and discharge) before putting it back into regular service.

What is the maximum number of Dyness 12V 100Ah lithium batteries connected in series or parallel?

For versatile system configurations, you can connect multiple Dyness 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries.

You can expand your battery bank's voltage and capacity by connecting identical batteries:

Series: Connect up to four batteries in series to create a higher voltage system (e.g., 24V, 36V, or 48V).
Parallel: Connect up to four batteries in parallel to increase the total capacity (Ah) to 400Ah.
Series-Parallel: Build a larger bank of up to 16 batteries in a 4S4P configuration (4 in series and 4 in parallel) for maximum power and capacity.

⚠️ Critical Connection Requirements

To ensure safety, performance, and longevity, all batteries in a connected bank must meet these conditions:

Identical Model: Use the exact same battery model (e.g., Dyness 12V 100Ah) with the same capacity (Ah) and BMS rating (A).
Same Brand: Never mix batteries from different brands. Each brand uses a unique Battery Management System (BMS) that is not compatible with others.
Recent Purchase: The batteries should be purchased close together, ideally within one month, to ensure they are from the same manufacturing batch for balanced performance.
Voltage Matched: Before connecting, ensure all batteries are fully charged and their voltages are balanced to within 0.1V of each other. This prevents large inrush currents that can damage the batteries.

This mini version is a fantastic battery. I keep it as a backup in my camper van and really adore it. Its compact size is a huge plus, fitting neatly in the small storage nook without taking up much space. It charges quickly, the quality is solid, and the power stays stable even when running a couple of small devices at once.

I've had this for a week on my new solar array. The specs are correct—it's definitely 100aH, and super lightweight. It does have a low temp cutoff, which is a great feature. I'm really impressed with this battery and plan to buy another soon to boost my system's endurance.

Had a full charge when I got it. Put it in my boat and used my trolling motor for about 3 hours. It still had charge left after I ran my motor at high speed for about 30 minutes heading back to the dock. It’s easy to carry, not too heavy. Very happy with it. It charged right back up too, and I’ve used it again. So far, so good.

Great trolling battery. I trolled for 10 hours in two days, mixing speeds to combat the wind, and used just over 1/4 of the charge. So nice to handle and set up on my 12 ft fishing kayak. Definitely changing my travel trailer over to lithium next.
